I spend my life drawing: while I think, as I speak on the phone, have a cup of coffee, talk with my friends ... at this moments a pen usually appears on the scene and I start drawing using whatever is at hand like the napkins, sugar sachets, the bill, any sort of card... This spoon helps you to scribble, and accentuates the texture of the espresso, cappuccino or chocolate, which I prefer using to the ink of a pen.
The emphasis is on how the object is resolved. Because it is never anything other than a spoon, but it has that incision on the tip, just at the end. It is a spoon up to the last centimetres, when it becomes a pen.
This small incision gives it the status of a visual poem, because it changes the meaning of the object without changing the essence of its shape. It is an intervention in the design where we have played with irony. And objects that have undergone this process always tickle you in the brain.
Although it can be used to write, narrate, draw, smudge ... it also works as a story, but nevertheless is still a spoon. Leave it in the drawer with the rest of the spoons, let it be a spoon until you want it to be something else.
The fact that the Writing Spoon may belong to the Collection Faces Ferran Adrià, situates it in the perfect context. It is a part of game and experimentation, food and everyday life.

Cuchara para Escribir La idea se me ocurrió de forma espontánea. Pensé que me paso la vida dibujando: mientras pienso, mientras hablo por teléfono, tomo un café, hablo o paso el rato. En estos momentos suele salir a escena un bolígrafo y empiezo a dibujar utilizando lo que tengo a mano como soporte: las servilletas, los sobres de azúcar, la cuenta, cualquier tarjeta... Este instrumento facilita la tarea y le saca partido a la espesa textura del café, del capuchino o del chocolate, que me gustan más que la de la tinta del bolígrafo.
El énfasis del objeto está en como está resuelto. Porque nunca deja d ser una cuchara y, en realidad, la primera palabra que te viene a la cabeza cuando ves la pieza es una cuchara, pero tiene esa incisión final, justo al final. Es una cuchara hasta los dos últimos centímetros, cuando se convierte en plumilla.
Esta pequeña incisión le otorga la condición de poema visual, porque altera el significado del objeto sin cambiar la esencia de su forma. Es una intervención de diseño en la que se ha jugado con la ironía. Y los objetos que han sufrido este proceso siempre te hacen cosquillas en el cerebro.
Aunque se pueda utilizar para escribir, narrar, dibujar, marranear... también funciona como historia, pero no por ello deja de ser una cuchara. Déjala en el cajón con las otras cucharas, deja que sea una cuchara hasta que quieras que sea otra cosa.
El hecho de que la Cuchara para Escribir pueda pertenecer a la colección de Faces Ferran Adrià, la sitúa en un contexto perfecto. Forma parte del juego y la experimentación, la comida y la cotidianidad.
